Dr. Ivy Branin: Naturopathic Insomnia Doctor in NYC
It’s quite ironic being a Naturopathic Insomnia Doctor in New York City, the city that never sleeps. But to me, an adequate amount of sleep is an important bodily process that our body depends on to function optimally.
Without deep, restful sleep, our hormones, digestion, and mood can get thrown off balance. Our immune system and metabolism also depend on a good nights sleep. This is why sleep deprivation is linked to weight gain, obesity, and susceptibility to frequent colds and flus.
What sleep does for us
Sleep isn’t just an activity that makes us feel good and something we enjoy, but we also need it to maintain an optimal level of health. Unfortunately, about 11% of us are not getting enough sleep every night. Even more alarming is that women have about a 40% higher risk for insomnia than men.
While some people enjoy an easy nights sleep, others may find their nights are plagued with difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, and/or waking up too early. Some nights may be characterized by all three!
Sleep medication
Prescription and over-the-counter sleeping medications can be beneficial in the short term, but can cause adverse effects and may not properly treat insomnia in a long term.
Some sleep medications don’t actually promote deep sleep, but make us feel as if we slept, robbing us of the true benefits of deep sleep’s benefits.
In an effort to avoid drugs altogether, some people experiment with a variety of herbs and sleep supplements only to find out that they only worked initially or didn’t help at all. Ultimately, it’s common to get more and more frustrated when lying awake night at night, causing additional stress.
As a holistic naturopathic insomnia doctor in New York City, I think it’s important to look at the whole picture before recommending any natural remedies.
How I can help your insomnia
Over the years many patients have come to my practice with the same difficulties around sleep and insomnia.
If you’re someone who’s having trouble with insomnia, rest assured that easeful deep sleep is possible.
As a naturopathic doctor in NYC, I have a process that determines your own individual barriers to sleep. We will look at hormonal and nutrient imbalances, individual nutrition, behavioral patterns, and mental emotional factors that could be robbing you from vital, restorative sleep.
Everyone’s sleep journey is different. As a naturopathic insomnia doctor in NYC, I don’t use a one size fits all approach, nor do I believe an herbal form of “Ambien” is the solution.
At the end of our process, you will fall asleep easier and stay asleep throughout the whole night. All without drugs or dependence on a grocery bag of supplements.

Is Naturopathic Telemedicine effective for my Insomnia?
Absolutely! Even before the pandemic Dr Ivy has offered virtual appointments to patients for various reasons including international and out-of-state patients, patients with small children, patients with mobility or transportation issues and patients preferring the convenience of having their appointments from their home or office. These patients have been able to achieve the same results as Dr Ivy’s in-office patients as Dr Ivy uses:
A HIPAA compliant electronic medical records system called CHARM
Patients can upload past diagnostic and blood work as well as recommend additional testing including the DUTCH test for review.
Uses a private and secure version of Zoom.
An online Dispensary for patients to easily order physician grade herbs and nutrients that are quickly delivered to the patient.
